Spring DIY Project #DigIn :: Vertical Garden Reveal

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

I hope all enjoyed riding along with me on such a fabulous ride from the beginning, during and the completion of my Spring DIY Project. I can truly say that this has been an experience that I will never forget. Being an interior designer I'm so used to creating and designing fabulous interiors as well as exteriors. So, when it came to getting my hands dirty and becoming a green thumb it was beyond awesome! Yes, I'm officially a green thumb. Just learning about different flowers and the best way to take care of them for the long term enjoyment is great! Actually, one of the best parts about this project was starting from having several pieces of wood to creating a fabulous statement piece that will definitely be the talk of all conversations.

Working on the vertical garden project for The Home Depot really got me motivated to tackle two projects in one. While designing my vertical garden, I jumped even deeper into another project. This was definitely the perfect timing because I had been meaning to design my outdoor patio. Now, I have a fabulous focal point for my newly designed outdoor oasis. Thanks to The Home Depot, it was beyond perfect timing.

The amazing and best part about this project was that I was able to create, design and incorporate this project about someone that was a part of my life and who was beyond the most amazing creature that GOD could have ever created, my baby girl Chynna (Boston Terrier). I lost her on January 25, 2012 to a brain tumor. I am so beyond grateful for having years to experience her warm cuddly hugs and her super cute face when she looked at mommy. The yellow flowers are for you Chynna, for your brightness and the brightness you brought to our home. I will always remember how much you loved and enjoyed playing in the backyard.

~ Dedicated in loving memory of Chynna ~

I'm a super happy chic with a super fabulous outdoor oasis, which has a super fantabulous vertical garden!

It's almost time for my vertical garden reveal, #DigIn!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

The time is finally winding down to present my spring DIY project. Yes, my fabulous vertical garden. I have truly enjoyed working on this project sponsored by The Home Depot. While working on my project, I was also motivated as well as inspired to really jump into spring and accomplish something that I have been meaning to tackle for a while now. Being so busy with my interior design company, I pushed designing my outdoor patio out even farther. Now that I have created or shall I say designed such a fabulous statement piece (vertical garden), I need my outdoor patio space to be just as fabulous.

In the process of designing my vertical garden, I decided to finally design my outdoor patio that will house my vertical garden. (Outdoor patio reveal in next post!) This will be the perfect space to display my vertical garden, which will definitely be the focal point for the space. This will add style, punch of color and fantabulous flair. I can't leave out that my vertical garden is going to be the conversation piece at all our outdoor social gatherings. When creating my vertical garden I used the exact measurements that's stated in the video, which you can find in my first post relating to this project. The video is presented by The Home Depot as a reference guide. I didn't switch any of the materials up or change anything out. The video list the exact measurements for creating a 37" x 24 1/2" vertical garden. Since my vertical garden will be displayed outdoors, I made sure that I used pressure treated wood. Make sure you keep that in mind when you are deciding whether it will be a indoor or outdoor display.

Now it's time to get down to the super fun part. Yes, arranging how I want my flowers displayed in my vertical garden. My vertical garden will consists of flowers with beautiful bold colors.

(begonia, coleus and marigold) ↑
I'm choosing flowers with beautiful bold colors because they will represent someone that was very special to me. More details about who and why will be in my last and final post on my spring DIY project. Stay tuned!!!

Spring flower tip: Warm season annuals shouldn't be planted when the ground is wet. (Zinnias, marigolds, impatiens and celosia). Whether planting in soil or containers, make sure you always use a fertilizer.

All in the Details :: decorative ironwork

When decorative ironwork is incorporated in an interior or exterior space, it adds a unique charm. It can also enhance a space with the many different intricate detailing. Decorative ironwork can be placed in any room in a home. Whether you want to incorporate ironwork with a candelabra, sculpture, plant stand, mirror, coat rack, railing, bakers rack or a iron canopy bed, ironwork is unlimited when it comes to designing. I love ironwork when it's being used uniquely, such as in a over-sized headboard or entry door. Can't forget the beauty of decorative ironwork when it's designed with glass. Glass and iron go hand in hand, therefore making them both powerful in the world of interior design.

Work Zone :: Chalkboard Lust

Talk about a work zone with style, character and fabulous flair, this would definitely be that work zone. I'm loving the amazing wallpaper that's designed with the look of books on shelves. I am one who loves displaying books in a space, so this is beyond amazingly creative! I must mention my favorite and best part of this work zone. Yes, it would be the fantabulous chalkboard or shall I say chalkboard wall. I'm crazy in love with any interior space that has a chalkboard. This is beyond an amazing work zone. I could really get used to the chalkboard wall and leaving myself tons of to do lists & don't forget reminders everyday. I so want this work zone!
